Kozashiki (Little Tatami Room)

The kozashiki is a small, ten-tatami-mat room located at the back and separated from the adjoining rooms by a central corridor. The original purpose of the room is unknown, but its dignified nature is clear from the presence of an alcove (tokonoma), a set of staggered shelves (chigai-dana), and sliding paper doors (fusuma) with landscape paintings of the four seasons by Hashimoto Gaho.
